We have always had a mixture of grass and weeds in the backyard. I put out Scott’s Weed and Feed a few weeks ago. Now there are dead spots where the weeds were. What should we do to encourage grass growth in the area that no longer has grass? It’s pretty patchy now. I was going to remove the dead weeds so hopefully that may help.

Post pictures. Are the dead spots just weeds or is the St Aug dead too?

I believe the dead spots are where the weeds were.

It does look like dead weeds. I’d start with the basics. Aerate, top dress with peat moss, and apply a high teens fert at 3lbs per thousand

Fertilize and water every week is all you can do. That area is very shady to be trying to grow grass. If you can trim up some tree limbs, that would surely help.
