Moth Eggs? If you look closely, are there little egg/pods in there?

Yep. Moth eggs of some sort.

I think you nailed it. Would also explain why I never see it happening. Now to figure out how to prevent it.

Have a buddy going through this same issue. Says he just ordered some bug zappers to try and help. Just like you, says he'll clean them all off, next day they're right back.

The bug zappers will draw a whole lot more moths and other insects than you have now, many many times more. If you want to see how much more insect activity you will have just buy a common black light and turn it on on your porch for a bit. The black light bulbs in zappers and other such traps are many times more powerful. They don't catch anywhere near all that they attract and the ones they don't trap will still do moth things, except there will be a bunch more doing it.

Army worm moth eggs.

They could be some type of armyworm moth, but they aren't the ones that cause the most problems this time of year, which is the Fall Armyworm Moth. Their eggs are white, sort of translucent. They lay them in masses, often in multiple layers. The mass will have a hairy-looking substance on and around it. I have a pic somewhere from last year that I can't find right now from a mass on a pecan leaflet.
They're flying now. This one came to the porch light the other night along with a few others. Maybe the second generation this year.
