Found this on the back porch today. I am not a snake fan by any means I actually turn into a little girl at the thought of them after a childhood cottonmouth incident. Trying to decide if I set my house on fire or not. Thanks in advance

Judging strictly by length to girth I'm pretty sure the snake that shed that isn't venomous.

I thought small grass/rat snake instantly but I am just guessing based off of previous posts on here. I must have 2 defective pit bulls because they sure let it get close to the house. I will have to let my yorkies out and see if they can track it and kill it.

If you request this be moved to the outdoor board, there's a couple posters on there I'm sure who can positively ID it.

Well there's only one way to be certain...

I found a skin sticking halfway out of a drainage catch basin in my backyard a few weeks ago. I've been needing to pull the cover off and scrape mud and leaves out of it, but I guess that's never going to happen now. Just gonna have to accept my backyard will flood a bit more now.

Looks almost like a garter snake type of stripe running the length of the skin. Hard to tell, but don’t think the skin shows keeled scales. As mentioned earlier, the size doesn’t look like that of a poisonous snake. Bottom line - don’t think it’s poisonous.

I was installing some can lights a few months ago and was on my stomach, in my attic, when I can across a snake skin. Talk about shite your britches.
