We have a whirlpool and the damper that cools the fridge ceased 1.5 years after we bought it. Was still under warranty so they fixed it for free, but it took two weeks so we didn’t have an ability to keep food 33-40 degrees during that time.
I’m sure it was a one-off, but I don’t think any brands are immune from malfunction.
