How did the SPF 30 end up doing with a hot summer?

Lol terrible.
Fair bit died. Starting to get cooler weather. So I'll hit with nitrogen later this month and see if it bounces back. That will determine if I ill continue to put up with a terrible lawn in the summer for a gorgeous lawn in fall,.winter, spring.

Or I can just nuke the whole yard and put a pool in instead.

Thanks for the update. It could be quite worth it if you can mix in some bermuda during the roughest stretch. The ole Bluemuda project I suppose...

At least it always looks pretty decent in the springtime.

Didn't do anything to it this year. Sprayed for a few few weeds.

Did you have to overseed in the fall to accomplish that?

I did overseed in the fall. While ghe kbg is self repairing, I probably will continue to overseed every fall to help fill in areas faster that die off in the summer.

I guess I could just do rye every fall, but honestly it's about the same price and a fair bit of the grass does survive the summer so it's not like I don't have any grass during the summer, it's definitely just thinner.

Other than st aug and maybe a shade tolerant zoysia, I don't think I'd have a lot of success with any warm season grass in my backyard. So ill keep doing this because it's looks good 6 months or so of the year.

I totally agree with such an approach for a smaller shaded area.
I’d think that if you really wanted to, you could get 8 months out of it.
