Looking to move back to louisiana, what are the pros and cons of moving to mandeville/Covington or hammond/ponchatoula areas?
Schools, conveniences, things to do?

Louisiana is going to be better than that liberal cesspool you are currently in

Recently made this move myself from the Austin area (Leander, TX) to Cenla to be closer to family.
Lots of pros and cons.
Most of the pros so far are the culture (being closer to old friends and family), food, and the property taxes. All the new schools around our area in Leander were making that tax number blow up year after year. Also not having to spend money daily on tolls, while still sitting in traffic over an hour, has been nice.
Most of the cons I’ve experienced so far have been related to options for schools and healthcare when compared to being in a major metro. Wife has to see a specialist for a medical condition every few months, so that always incurs a two hour drive to Baton Rouge. We always use it as an excuse for a Costco trip as we are no longer just ten minutes down the street from one. Still miss H-E-B on weekly basis.
