With the extended freezing temperatures and multiple hard freezes next week, we are making sure things are as protected as possible this weekend. What is the best cover for potted plants? Some we can bring inside. Some we will probably not be able to just because of space reasons. We can bring those together on the back patio where they will be somewhat protected and cover them. What is the best material to use? I was thinking either landscape fabric or tarp. Either one I have a halogen lamp I can place under the cover with the plants to help keep the temperature up a bit.

I was thinking just getting some visqueen type plastic but I read that that sort of plastic isn’t the best for plants when used like this. Any thoughts?

I'm probably going to use our 9'x9' tent to cover some areas I can't fit inside the house, surround with tarps and put our grow light inside. Going to look like a weed grow house for a bit, but that's okay.

Whatever you do, make damn sure the Halogen light is not near anything combustible because they put out crazy amounts of radiant heat.

I will put large plants in my back shed and bring in two floor type halogen lights with 2 lights per stand and that is sufficient to keep them from freezing.
