Are there rules for when a fence is not required by insurance? Age of children, distance to neighbors, etc?

No ...Some insurance companies did not send people out to photograph the property, when the policy was issued years ago. . However, when ever the policy is renewed ....it's like getting a new Driver's License ...your odds of Jury Duty becomes as certain as the odds of the inspector stopping by. The percentages increase dramatically.

I hate pool fences, so we got a net for our pool. Pretty easy to put on and take off and works really well. Now that the kids are all swimmer we only put it on during winter or if we have friends come over with little ones.

Pool net - Katchakid is who we used in Houston, not sure if they are everywhere, but I would check it out

You asked the question. I'm an insurance producer and I answered the question. Many insurance companies require a fence with a locking gate around the pool. If they find out you have one with out a fence they'll non-renew your policy.

You have to have a fence around the yard so that anyone can't wonder in off the street. That's building code at least in BR. I don't think a safety fence around the perimeter of the pool is required.

State Farm gave me the parameters of: 4 foot minimum, auto close locking gates.

We went with aluminum fencing around the entire back, gates four gates all with spring closing hinges and locks.

I keep the locks done on three and have the key neatly hidden for the other two. We keep the carport to back yard fence open when we have company around.

Hired it out. Those panels don’t stretch or shrink for misplaced posts, and I am not what you would call detail oriented.

The setting of the gate posts has been a challenge w gates shutting without hanging up.
