Killing/control Wisteria

We moved in back in September of last year, and the yard had been neglected for years. Overgrown crap everywhere, but I’ve done a pretty good job so far of hacking everything back and restoring an actual yard. There’s a creek/ditch on the side of my house that is loaded with wisteria, and not matter how much I cut it back, by the following weekend it’s back and creeping over everything again.
I realize it will take a year or two to get everything under control since it’s been running rampant for so long, but is there anything that will kill this stuff back (beside a machete and clippers). The ortho brush killer spray works decently, but I want scorched-earth death upon it

A shovel is your friend. Is it popping up from roots all over, or is there a main trunk? Dig up as many roots as you can.

I think continued application of the trichlopyr herbicide will take care of it over time. But you have a extensive root system the herbicide needs to be trans located to that entire roots system, so you’ll need to be persistent with spraying.
