You are probably upside down and the mtg co is trying to catch up on escrow reserves. This happened to me in DFW back in 2019.
It will modify or reduce once the escrow reserve is caught up.

20% down has nothing to do with escrow. And no one has to do escrow, it’s just a way to speed out your taxes and insurance
