Who has a 45 foot shop vac hose?

My dryer vent is 23' long. I purchased a shop vac and 24' drill attachment and cleaned a clogged vent from just the dryerside of the vent. I set a WiFi camera on the outside of the house and watched the drill attachment come out. If I had 45' of vent I would try the same tools from both inside and outside. Theoretically, I can reach and clean 48' of vent (24' in each direction), since the shop vac is sucking out the lint as the drill attachment is breaking it up. My 10 gallon shop vac had about 4 gallons of lint in it when I emptied it. This was from a house we bought that was 20 years old. Vent was likely never cleaned and they were lucky there was no fire.

Good Lord. You got lucky on that one. It's a wonder a fire didn't start.

Yeah I was shocked how much lint came out. We bought a house needing a lot of maintenance and repairs so I was already expecting to have to clean the dryer vent. I put a snake cam in the dryer vent and saw practically a complete clog within 1 foot of the dryer side opening. I kept pushing the snake cam in about 10' and that's basically what I saw the whole way on the cam. I used the snake cam again after using the drill brush attachment and shop vac (which I ran twice through the entire vent) and it looked very clean afterwards. The shop vac / drill brush attachment rig works very well. I plan to do this once a year since my dryer vent has four 90 degree turns and has a 10' rise to get out of the basement to the outside.
