So I'm tracking there are various types but which on is best for adding to your yard/property line area? Surely the hundreds you see around subdivisions and businesses won't have the knee's popping up and destroying mower blades?

I don't know the specific type but my dad planted two in his front yard and he's gone through a handful of mower blades. He now weedeats around the knees and mows accordingly. The trees do look great though.

I've hit a few in my yard... although I don't have any cypress trees. My neighbor does and I believe the tree(s) is about 15-20' from my area.

Bald Cypress put out the knees.

Pond Cypress is almost the same but it doesn’t put out nearly as many knees of any at all.

Bald cypress have knees everywhere. It won't necessarily destroy your blades, but the knees are unavoidable.

I have 3 bald cypress and keep most knees mowed. But wouldn’t plant any.

GF has it right about pond cypress. Think they’re smaller too.
