Cook top/ vent

Replacing my gas cooktop. Currently have downdraft vent that doesn’t work well. Thinking about getting it vented upwards. Will updraft be better at removing smell while cooking?

absolutely, down draft is a sham to pass building codes without serving a true purpose.

Yes, no question. Always overshoot the power of your vent though. Can never have enough.
