Brick Pavers Interior Floor Renovation

Bought a house 5 years ago that has brick floors in the kitchen. House is roughly 20 years old and we have decided that we want to white wash the floors in order to brighten up the room. Did a test sample in the pantry utilizing Portland cement and all checked out.
It looks as though they never sealed the pantry floor but I could be wrong. Color was lighter in there, but I know it’s because he hasn’t had 20+ years of foot traffic. I tried to scuff up the cement after application with a small stool of ours and nothing came up or chipped away.
Question I have is should I try and strip the existing floor before the white wash or is the existing sealer old enough to where I can white wash it and then seal after? If I need to strip it does anybody have a recommendation on what to use?
