Spend time on Craig's List. Be aware some of my best deals have come out of the DFW and Houston area.
I got a nearly new SCM MM20 bandsaw with a brand new never wired feeder 14 new carbon blades, a new Laguna RSK carbide blade and a lightly used Lennox Trimaster carbide blade along with a basically new Woodmaster 50" dual drum sander with about $500 in abrasives for $4k from a guy north of Houston. I got a newish SCM MM24 for $2300 from a guy in Plano and a 12" medium duty Northfild jointer with a DMD drive setup in excellent shape for $1100 from someone outside Dallas. Just be aware a lot of people expect near MSRP for their 6" Jet jointer etcetera, if you are patient you will find deals. Sawstops tend to go fast so you tend to have to be ready to jump on those.
