Advice on rock ditch..

I've dug about a 80 foot drainage ditch in the back acreage. Its 2.5 feet wide. I dug it mainly because I need the drainage but also want it to be attractive. I want to line it and put white river rock in it. Next year I plan on building a little bridge over it. In other words, make it an attraction rather than just a ditch. Its not deep by any means, about 8 inches max and tapering to about 3. Need advice on rock and surrounding area. I'm having trouble finding white river rock and I'm uncertain how to make it look nicer "than just a white rocked ditch." Put various plants around? Any ideas are welcome. TIA.

Will water sometimes sit in it?
Id use larger brown river rock or a combination of that and smaller river rock. Introducing some plantings would be nice. Iris is always a good ditch stalwart.
Also white river rock (honestly haven't heard of it) doesn't look natural. something like this comes to mind

I'm hoping water wont set in it for long, but there may be 3-4 days a year the whole yard floods.

its just river rock. there are a several varieties of it. i think that looks like Tennessee river rock. check with your local material suppliers. you can probably get a couple of big gabion baskets full delivered for a decent price.
