don’t know the nature of the compressor failure, but watch this video. There is very specific protocol that could be followed to decontaminate the line-set/system to prevent re-occurrence. You should be discussing this with the owners.
Appreciate your posts, I will take a look.

Was the rattling in air handler-furnace associated with blower wheel itself, or something associated with Evap coil that was signaling a failing compressor? I guess you weren’t provided that answer.
He said it was a piece of insulation and had the wheel out of balance. But the problem persists, I just heard it.
There weren’t any signs of failure, he even said it seemed to be working when he got there.

You sure you didn’t hear your compressor going out? Sounds like your compressor needed replacing. Keep your records. If it’s something else it will show soon
No, it hasn’t caused any trouble. He only noticed it wasn’t working when the breaker tripped. That is, he only noticed that it was not kicking on at all when he was putting things back together.
It’s just hard for me to accept that it stopped working when he was literally servicing it, while the outside air temp and inside temp were maybe 10 degrees apart (like 9-10am). It died while he was working on the outdoor unit doing the regular service.
I’ve had AC’s die before. I didn’t see any of the signs, and the tech didn’t report any of them either.

If he was charging the system with refrigerant, he could have fed it in too quickly and damaged the compressor. You have to put it in very slowly so that liquid refrigerant doesn't go into the compressor.
I’m not sure they charged it, he didn’t mention it and ticket doesn’t say he did. But honestly, he didn’t seem to be able to provide a very straight answer if the chain of events.
