Seeing images in old posts

I noticed that when I view a post that is more than acouple of months old the images show up as links. Is there any way to get them to show up normally? Like a setting I can change?

I never understood this. Server space is cheap AF.

The pics are still there if I click the links. They just don't show up in the posts any more.
