Why do people get so upset with someone's opinion? Our Fore father's wanted guaranteed free speech, but most of the people here would have banned them for wanting it, it seems.
I'll take a shot at explaining what this Otto guy was probably getting at.
How many children joined the Military as a Career move? Think about it, do these Recruitment offices show Dead Soldiers, lost appendages, and battle wounds? Why not?

Go Army recruiting page...find me one sad story,
Find me the section that speaks of the Hazards of joining, show me something that honestly describes what everyday life in a War Zone will be.
How many "positives" are listed, how many happy stories, how many "what a great time" advertisements are there?
By the time some of these children realize the realities of war, they have already signed their life away.
As for calling them "suckers", I can't really get behind that. Criminal False advertising with caveat emptor justification by the people in charge of Consumer protection leads only to victims, not "suckers".
I doubt Otto was "flaming", he was merely stating his beliefs.

So is free speech trumps my free speech? I find what he said disgusting, so I'm voicing my opinion that he should be shut up for a little while.

Otto has a antisocial disorder and pops off inappropriately quite often. I don't think he should be banned for this, but his overall body of work could use a little work.

What? I think you miss his value. He serves a purpose, if only as an enzyme to catalyze a conversation, he has done the board a service.
I do not understand why people throw around the "flaming" moniker so frequently, as if they fail to understand that having a different viewpoint is not synonymous to the "deliberate act of creating a post in order to incite members of the board and invoke a negative response."
Hell my post in this thread will be considered by people as trying to flame the Military, and it is not. But I guess the fire is in the eye of the beholder.

We were new to town, my dad being a pilot, and we were only there for him to deal with tactical nukes, the little B-47.
We didnt have a regular MD yet. Ah those were the days.
America, the land of the free, sort of. I was so glad to see Tex lose in the BCS champ game.

exactly i was just pointing out how dumb the free speech stuff is when trying to defend otto. people seem to confuse td for some sort of democracy. they dont understand about it being a private website and that free speech doesnt apply here.

I know it doesn't. I wasn't talking to the Admins, the Admins can do as they wish. I was speaking to the people calling for him to be banned. Do they realize how anti-American Democratic Ideals they are being?
