LSU students with iphone

Have any of you been able to set up your email to be downloaded on your iphone? Anyone know if this is possible? I've been trying different things but can't seem to get it to work

are you trying to use pop3 or imap? and what exactly are you putting in?

I tried to do both imap and pop and it won't work. Also tried to do microsoft exchange by just using email.lsu.edu . I don't even know if it is possible, just trying different things

try getting it forwarded to gmail, yahoo, etc, then set up your phone to receive that if you can't get the lsu system to work.

Yea, I'll end up doing that if I can't get this to work, I just wanted to be able to send things from the lsu email address too.

I get my lsu e-mail through the Mail program on my mac laptop, but I'm not sure how it all works on the iPhone, but i'm sure it's similar.

fwiw...hotmail has been a problem too.
In the past they haven't supported pop3. Now it looks as though you can do it on the premium hotmail accounts, and hotmail plans to have pop3 support on the free accounts withing the next 12 months.

I just went to Add Account then just filled in the information from the lsu account, pretty much trial and error until it worked.

This is the info I used, but again I don't know what the setup is on the iPhone, so good luck man, sorry I can't help more.
If all else fails try going to the IT desk in the library they may be able to help you.

I receive my lsu email directly to my iphone. Works for receiving, never for sending.
Go into settings and then email, calendar, etc.
Add a new account:
address is set to just the regular email address: username@lsu.edu
host name: pop3.paws.lsu.edu
UserName: username:paws.lsu.edu@paws.lsu.edu
password: plug in that big password you pasted
And of course username is your username

No, If you are on LSU's campus, you cannot connect to their servers with the iphone. And you cannot send through their outbound smpt off campus. I have never been able to send via that email account from my phone. But you are welcome to try.

LSU is not retarded enough to try to use Exchange for a massive email server.

I have my gmail set up so that I can do that. When link the lsu email and the gmail accounts it is an option. You just select what email address you want to send it from in a drop down menu on the compose message page. Don't know how that will work on iphone though.
