Laptop overheating help

I've been experiencing problems with my laptop lately. I'v been getting messages that my laptop is overheating and that I should shut it down and send it back to the manufacturer. I have a Toshiba 2012 laptop, so it may be time for an upgrade, but I also want to get the most out of it as I can. My laptop makes a ton of noise, and when I mean a ton, I mean a ton of noise. It seems to work fine but randomly shuts down at times. I've tried cleaning it as seen on videos online, but it hasn't done much. So should I just get a new laptop at this point or try something else?
Thank you
Thank you

I am not sure what you did to clean it, but I typically blow all of the dust out of mine with canned air a couple of times per year....
fwiw, it sounds to me like you have a fan or two that is going out...have you looked to see if the fans are turning when this happens? I am betting that you probably have one fan that does not work and another that is making noise because it is going out...

Have pets?
Vacuum the air vents on your laptop. May sound dumb, but works like a charm.

quote:This is correct. I have a Toshiba that is similar and have to take it apart occasionally and clean the vent out. It will get just like a dryer vent. 99% chance that solves it. If not, the other two possibilities are virus/malware or thermal paste on cpu/heatsink is getting old.

Post clearly says he needs HELP. Therefore, post on the help board. Especially if its heating up while he's on TD
