On any of the boards? If I go into a thread and stay in it for any amount of time, though it varies, and I back out of the thread, the topics in the index of the message board get reloaded.
It started about 2 weeks ago and since then there has been one update to the browser. Possibly two updates within a month.
This shite is doing the same thing Firefox does which was the reason I went to Chrome and then switched to Brave.

I'm having DNS issues with Brave on the reg now and it started during this time period you've indicated.
However, I'm also having it on Chrome. I can't bring myself to use Edge to try to rule out something internal to Chrome/Brave.
It is intermittent, too. I notice it most on TD.com, but also Wiki. Works as intended/expected and then goes into really long lag times. I've flushed DNS, reset, tried Cloudfare, Google public and all sorts of DNS tricks but it clearly isn't that.
I suspect it is something in Chrome with the new way they do DNS lookups - at least for my issue. I have no idea if it is related to your issue, but I figure more information is better than less, right?

I think I get that once in a while though, I think it's my internet since it's really slow at times. So I attribute it to that.
Now, the Rah Dude
emoticon just flashes with only the first frame loading (head down) and it skips the head up.
I going to clear the cache in the browser. Hopefully, it will clear up the problem.

Mine does that intermittently (freezes on the first frame) with the banana emoticon.
He actually looks a little creepy just sitting there with those cold, dead eyes.

I'm on Firefox (I have Brave as well) but my problem starting yesterday is that I can't see photos posted by other users or myself now.

Images not loading with Firefox? I get that problem with Brave with certain domains that host the images. I narrowed it down to entries in my hosts file which I partially got from mvps.org and some entries I added.
Not sure why Firefox would do that all of a sudden. I have Firefox installed and I'll check if the images show up or not. Do they load fine in Brave for you?
I cleared out the cache and history in Brave, and it seems to be better now that it hasn't been refreshing the index of the message boards. Still testing though.
