Knee pain from squats is almost always the result of leaning back too far when standing up. If you have wider hips, you should open up your stand more than if you have narrow hips. Try not to lean your torso back as you rise up. You should maintain tension in your core and back as well as your legs and drive straight up, keeping your center of gravity directly over the arches of your feet.

A squat is a strength exercise in which the trainee lowers their hips from a standing position and then stands back up. During the descent of a squat, the hip and knee joints flex while the ankle joint dorsiflexes; conversely the hip and knee joints extend and the ankle joint plantarflexes when standing up.
If you follow the right guidance, you never feel any pain. You have to follow the trainer's advice.
