What is the best glycemic index chart or app that you’ve found? It seems that the quick-hit top Google entries vary widely for foods. Thanks!

When I decided to get serious about reversing diabetes I read a book called "The Glycemic Load Diabetes Solution" by Rob Thompson. It was written in 2006 so it's a bit dated now but it's still pretty much spot on.

He advocates for using the glycemic load rather than glycemic index when evaluating a food. What's the difference? The glycemic index tells you how much sugar is in a food. The glycemic load tells you how much you will consume in a typical serving. I find that much more useful.

So all of this to say that there is a sample of his book on Amazon and you can see the glycemic load of common foods in the free sample.

I've been at this for about 3 years now and I have developed my own simple rule. A slice of typical white bread has 13 carbs. I try not to eat anything with more than half a slice of bread worth of carbs. I also limit myself to 50 or less carbs per day.
