2 weeks ago I did a deload week and felt fine.

Last Monday I woke up with a bit of pain at my elbow, figured I just slept on it wrong. Woke up Tuesday and had way more intense pain and could barely lift my arm above 90 degrees.

Rest of the week I rested and stayed out of the gym; iced it a couple times a day and took some ibuprofen. Last couple I elevated it on some pillows and have now used a compression sleeve I just got

It is getting better slowly, but I'm concerned about the root cause of this. If it had been from my max week I would understand, but I take deload seriously and didn't bang it on anything that i know of

Any advice/information would be appreciated. Saw online it said it was likely bursitis and would take 2+ weeks for pain to go away but want to make sure this doesn't happen again

Overuse, muscles overcompensating for weaker muscles, etc.

Your joints and tendons don't have a lot of blood flowing to them so they take longer to heal. Just rest, ice, take an anti-inflammatory. It will be fine again.

Last year I got shoulder bursitis. Now THAT was awful. Couldn't handstand or deadhang for FIVE MONTHS. I could do anything but those two movements.

I guess this would have made more sense to me if it happened during a heavy week and not after a de-load but I certainly have been going pretty hard this year

Yeah going heavier/harder than usual takes its toll over time. It’s not just the deload week, but the days and weeks prior. Tendons take so much longer to heal.
