Tiger had a microdiscectomy at L4-L5 the level above his fusion. This is expected ..adjactent level disease normally occurs 5-7 years after fusion surgery but with his practicing /playing golf it accelerated it to 3 years. Band-aid surgery was done at Hospital for Special Surgery in South Florida. Don't know how many swings Tiger has left in that back!

Back surgery sucks, and takes a tremendous toll on your game. I lost 50 yards off the tee because I just can’t turn like I used to. I don’t know anyone who has had a fusion who didn’t lose flexibility.

Technology has helped, driver has improved back to a 250 average for me, but that just means any par 5 over 470 is probably a 3 shot hole. Pro’s can’t really make it if they can’t reliably get to 525, some par 4’s these days are almost that long.

Tiger was still pumping out 175+ ball speeds this year. His main problem is he’s just unable to put in the reps and he’s getting old. At least we had the 2019 curtain call.
