Thoughts on the rebuilt Colonial?

It seemed on TV that portions of the course were still in a slight state of disrepair.
My only big complaint was how they removed the stone front of the 9th green. I'm curious as to why they did that.

Pretty good video on the rebuild. The disrepair seemed to be a result of time constraints. I'm with you on the rock wall removal. I know they wanted to return to its original design and "natural state", but I thought they took it a little too far.

Listened to No Laying Up this morning and this was talked about. Sounds like time constraints made it a near impossible task to have it in PGA Tour ready conditions.
They were saying they had to squeeze an 18-24 month project into 12 months, and conditions will be substantially better over the next couple years.

based on their comments, sounds like the course is going to play easier for the pros when the greens soften up. The course certainly looks better on tv, but it’s still a mid-tier PGA Tour course.
The renovation seems like it’s great for member play though.

After watching Valhalla last week, the Colonial looked like a muni on TV.
I know with time the appearance will improve for viewing.

I would have preferred an uglier course with single digits under par to win for a major over a beautiful course that coughed up 21 under to win.
