I’ve played a lot of tournament golf and the first tee shot was always the worst. More people hanging out on the first tee. After that, not so many people. You can play your game from that point on and start to focus on making your best swing on the next shot. The only way to get use to tournament golf is to play tournaments. Best of luck.

Good for him. There is a lot of golfers who don't know the feeling and difference of what it's like to play tournament golf.

Just to let you know what the junior golfer’s mentality can be, I’ll tell the story of my conversation with my 10 year old son after I caddied for him in a tournament.
Me: Well, son, you shot a 105 today, which is fine. But you had 55 putts! All 3-putts except for 2 4-putts! If you had just AVERAGED 2 putts a hole, you’d have shot 85, which would have been your all-time lowest score by far.
Son: Really? Wow!
Me: Yes. So when we get home, what do you need to work on?
Son: My driving.
