Headed to HH late July, looking for 2 courses to play while there.

Harbor town is unfortunately closed till September and Atlantic dunes is being aerated while I’m there.

So my leaders in the clubhouse now are RTJ palmetto dunes and Heron Point

We'll be there next week playing the RTJ and Fazio Palmetto Dunes courses for the first time.

I'll let ya know my thoughts. Both look nice though.

I’m staying on #2 at the RTJ course this week. Looking at the fairway and green now. Looks like they punched the greens and fairways a few weeks ago. Fairways are tight and the greens roll nice, maybe a little on the slow side.

The front 9 is tree lined and the back opens up with a lot of water in play.

I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about old south golf links which is right off the island.

I can tell you two courses to stay away from: Golden Bear and Oyster Reef.

Fazio at palmetto is ok…..can you swing Atlantic dunes? I’d do that along with heron point

I've played a lot at HHI; I grew up in Savannah and took an annual golf trip there for many years as an adult.

The three courses at Palmetto Dunes are all very good; my personal favorites are RTJ and Arthur Hills. Fazio is a fine course; I'm not a fan of par 70 tracks. Personal preference.

Old South is a fine golf course; it is off the island and a hike if you're staying at the other end in Sea Pines for example. I like the courses at Wexford and Port Royal also, but not as much as Palmetto Dunes.

I decided to splurge and go with Heron Point and then a less expensive option in Port Royal (it’s also really close to my hotel).

But I’m sure even the less expensive courses in HH are better than the south course lol

Last summer we played Oyster Reef - good track. If you have a private club membership there is elite golf in Bluffton. Berkley Hall, Belfair, Colleton River.

Update: scored a tee time at old south!

I put my info in a tee time finder because you couldn’t book as a single unless a twosome or threesome booked a time.

So I’ll be going with Heron Point and Old south. Scratching port royal.
