We have a group of guys going for the Ole Miss game. We are staying in Memphis. I am looking for recommendations for golf courses in that area. TIA

TPC Southwind would be my choice, and play Tunica National on your way back…

Looks like TPC is a private club according to a search

Mirimichi is a rad layout. Little north of Memphis in Millignton. Fun little course: Galloway.

Public golf around here sucks. The city recently dumped a bunch of money into Audubon and it's really made it a nice course. Cherokee Valley in Olive Branch is decent. Mirimichi is good/decent. If that place was closer to the city and had a bigger budget, it would be great. Layout is great - its just hit or miss with the conditions. You could always drive an hour to Tunica and play Tunica National...that would be your best bet for a good course with good conditions. I've never been out there without it being in great shape. Played there about a month ago for $65 on a Saturday.

If you know someone that can get you on at TPC Southwind or Spring Creek Ranch, certainly try and do that. If you don't have anyone that can get you on then the other courses I listed are your best bets.

Galloway is awful as are almost all of the public options in Memphis.

Haven't played it yet post-reno, but as the poster above mentioned, Audubon just did a huge renovation and I've heard good things. Mirimiche was awesome when it opened but now it's hit or miss. I get why he built it there, but Timberlake never should have built that course where he did. They've been hemorrhaging money the last decade and the course management has suffered. Good layout, though, and it's usually pretty wide open now.

That's about it for public courses worth playing in Shelby County.

I love Galloway. It’s small, but I don’t hit far and it’s always in pretty good conditions.

last time I played there, at least half of every green was completely dead and just dirt. I could maybe see why someone who doesn't hit it far likes it because it's only 5500 yards from the men's tees. For most golfers, it's a driver wedge on every par 4, and driver scoring iron to reach every par 5 in 2. It's a typical cheap muni track that I wouldn't ever recommend to someone from out of town looking to play a nice course
