Does the team captain really matter?

Other than scheduling practice and speaking to the media?
There really isn’t any strategy, unlike football or baseball.
An idiot can see which players are hot or cold.
“Go make some birdies.”
The captain just seems unnecessary.
Idk

People acting like it's important for the product on the course is retarded.
But there are a lot of media and logistics responsibilities that are legit and a good captain can help push the event

I agree, but it doesn’t take a golf savant to do those things, right?

Yes.
A good Captain and staff can identify synergies between players that leads to good pairings and who takes the lead on the final day.
The Captain has to be involved and kept current throughout the year in order to make his at large picks.
The Golf Channel did a show that followed Azinger when he was a Ryder Cup captain and it was a lot of work.

The guys playing together this week have been playing together for years or are just buddies

It being a lot of work and it being relevant to who wins aren't the same thing

Don't discuss something you know nothing about, you embarrass yourself.

I assume we have the same exact amount of experience captaining a Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, Curtis Cup, etc

Me, you, and Mingo could do that.

Every time he posts he continues to embarrass himself.

I could do it by myself. I'd send Bopper to Costco to get post round Capri sun's and mandarins
