I’m thinking about getting a net so I can chip and hit irons in my backyard. It’s hard to get the range with little kids.

I have plenty of space and a shed to store it in.

Any recommendations on a net? Or a mat? Anyone chip in their backyards?

Hitting full shots into a net without a launch monitor is a mistake, in my opinion. Too easy to ingrain something bad into your swing.

Chipping is good though.

If you’re just chipping, any cheap net and mat would work. If you choose to hit off the mat, I suggest putting a towel a few inches behind the ball to make sure you aren’t skipping the clubface into the ball.

Practice putting green. You’ll save more shots working on your putting (and possibly chip shots depending on the setup) than you ever will hitting balls in a net.

I practice chipping in the backyard.. I've got a little pop-up target that I place on the opposite end and attempt to hit it..
