Don't anyone get me wrong.

A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work.

I have actually shot in the 70's before. My best round was 73, have 4 rounds under 80. I used to shoot 83 regular but always blew up on a hole for an 8 or so.

The golf group I was in said I was sandbagging so I had to take the ESG score but that was BS. That was my game.

Now

I like the old video of the guy giving lessons, love the flashlights and I used to use the molding of the house when swinging to do the same thing years ago.

Maybe I am trying to hard but I know I will never get scratch but I at least want to hit the ball in the air.

I’m not over 50 but I’ve quit for years at a time and had to regrind to <10. Find a coach that emphasizes fixing 1 piece at a time. Get your set up consistent, take away on plane then weight shift is the order my coach this year focused for example.

Edit:

My mind is so confused I don't have a clue what I am doing, just 10000 swing thoughts going all at once.

Saw this after I responded. Yes one idea at a time ON THE RANGE. “Range is for practice the course is to play”

can't hit my irons for anything, low line drives with every club.

I’m the opposite. I am pretty good with my irons. I’m so bad with my driver and hybrids that I don’t even bring them to the course.

I love the game but I stink at it.

Try to simplify it. What’s your weakness? What are you good at?

Technology has really helped (TM face tech, Ping’s forgiveness, PXG’s dirt cheap pricing, single length irons, etc).

Also, check out Todd Graves channel on YT. It really is one of the more simple approaches (mimics Moe Norman’s swing). He does a camp. I riddled the shanks with his drills and swing.

I’ve given it up twice over the years. 62 now .Have always been self taught and just decided this last time to completely flatten my swing and draw the ball. It was fun to start over and have different set up and swing thoughts . I’m a better ball striker now than I’ve ever been with much shorter swing and enjoy as much as ever. Never give it up.
