I went to a sale an old guy that collected golf clubs posted on Facebook and picked up a few persimmon drivers and woods etc for $1 each. He had a shite ton of irons too.

I got this aldila driver and I can't find shite about it online and was wondering if anyone has ever seen one.

Im not 100% sure, its been too long, but Louisville Golf use to put out some "private label" clubs when the were overstocked on blocks.

I'd imagine this would be from the very early days for Aldila. They got bought out a few years back by Mitsubishi but still make golf shafts

Yep, probably a promotional head because the Aldila HM30 and HM50 shafts came out right before persimmon heads started dying out.

That makes sense. It has a graphite aldila shaft.

I'm somewhat familiar with macgregor, spalding and Wilson persimmon but this is the first aldila I've seen. It looks like it's been refinished judging by the lacquer on the bottom but is much prettier than the pics show.

I used to refinish persimmon woods and play with them. Fun to play with, but shows you how easy golf has gotten. That is probably from the late 70’s to 80’s era I think. No real value.

I paid $1 for it. I only bought it because I had never seen one.

I also started on persimmon and have refinished and sold them on ebay.

Great buy, I love finding the old stuff like that. I found some 1930’s wedges that must have come out in the first few years of metal shafts. The heads look like some type of wheat cutting blade! No bounce whatsoever. If you don’t hit it right, it is going deep into the dirt! I keep telling myself I’m going to play in a wood shaft tournament soon.
