Scuttlebutt has it that EA Sports is testing the water to see how expensive it would be to license deals with schools to appear in a future College Football game.
The issue appears to be not only cost but that some conferences are a bit cool on the idea, the Big Ten doesn't appear to be that interested and while you could certainly do a college football game that leaves out the Sun Belt conference its hard to see one make it to the market without the Big 10.
Yes, I know they mostly suck in football now, but I can't see EA Sports being willing to write off the entire Midwest.
That having been said, if more schools start to sign onto this (and some conferences like the SEC and ACC go in whole hog) it is hard to see the Big 10 resisting the lure of easy cash.
Cost, having a randomly generated squad of players to avoid the O'Bannon rule, and convincing the individual schools to go for it seems to be the sticking points.

They would make a ton of $. College football is on top of the world RN.
