Warzone 2.0 on Xbox w/ PS cross platform friends - cannot accept invites from friends

Have the game set up on the Xbox (series X) and a friend (PS5) sent me a friend request. I see the notification “1” by requests bot when i go to select it I cannot accept it. Nothing shows up in the friend requests notifications.
Anyone encounter this? Goggle results were all over the place and I’ve tried everything i can find.

If you go to the social tab and scroll to the friends tab, there should be a friends request button.
Click that and go from there.

Thanks! Trying to navigate this with my son as it’s a family gift. Aside from the switch for the kids the last console I owned outright was an SNES
