I liked Rome but it seemed 85% of the battles were siege battles that were fought on the city walls. That got kind of old.

It's one of my gripe about total war. So many of the battles end up being sieges because the game is so centered around cities.
I think games like Europa Universalis, Victoria, and Crusader Kings really nailed the way warfare was fought then. Capturing territory is great but it serves no purpose of the enemy has a fully functional army roaming your territory.
Total war should abandon the province focus totally. Provinces make no sense when you can just capture the city and all of the surrounding area belongs to that nation.
From there, changing how recruiting soldiers works and how the AI organizes their army would fix the game bigly.

TW- Warhammer is part of next month's Humble Bundle, meaning you can unlock it for about $12 and then get an additional few games at the start of March.
Glad you mentioned that! I went ahead and subscribed to them for a 6 month period after seeing some of their previous months. Seriously looks like one of the best deals in gaming.
So downloading TW:Warhammer now.. this is my first TW. Any tips?
