IGN Review
It's worth the extra little bit, yeah. It's funny because all of the achievements I got with the regular edition were picked up again when I played through the GOTY. Extra points, please

Batman GOTY is the original game I loved along with four additional challenge maps and the newfound ability to play in 3D. Basically, it's more bang for your buck.

That's why I try not to look at that top number at all. Keep it to it's basic time format. When it starts breaking it down to the millisecond,

Do I need to play the first one before this one?

This what you drive to work?

I would say you do. It is a continuation, and Joker is afflicted with something that happened in the first game.
Also, since they are including some new game mechanics, you probably want to play AA just for the appreciation value. Also, the first Splinter Cell game I played was Chaos Theory, the third one. After beating it, I tried the second one and couldn't stand that some of the stuff I could do in CT wasn't possible in Pandora Tomorrow.

Playing the first one will make you appreciate the improvements in AC and will help you understand the psychosis of someone who starts a 4 month countdown for a freaking video game

Not sure any of us really understand why we are doing this. But it's happening, nonetheless.
