Sony is making strides, we're looking at a lot of their main AAA games hitting PC simultaneously like MS within another year or two.

I just don't think they will, they make money off people double dipping on their games like Switch releases. Dont see them dropping same day for this gen at least. More so previous titles to hype up the next installment on PS5.

Would love to be proven wrong I just see don't see it for their big hitters. More smaller projects and multiplayer. I would much rather play games like Death Stranding or Last or Us on PC than having to buy them twice but they know there's money in that and they can still get it unlike Microsoft.

There have been leaks with simultaneous release already. I'd say 2 years tops and that just depends on the studios and how long/how many for PC ports.

The only reason they aren't right now is how far behind Sony was so it actually takes a much longer time to port. This is also why you get older games first like HZD, UC4, R&C.

HFW is the fastest so far in September just 7 months after console release in Feb, which makes sense being same studio from HZD port that came out in Aug 2020.

But the one key thing you forget, they release for half price on PC and that is solely because of the late release. That is a lot of lost money for no real reason when Microsoft does it and has for years now. And everyone wants crossplay seamlessly for all games regardless of platform, it took Sony forever on that too but they got there.

I’m all for games being released on console and PCs. That’s just more money for the studios, and more money means great studios can keep making great games.

But to act like console gaming is going to disappear anytime soon, especially one that keeps bringing in record breaking revenues is outrageous.

As long as the consumer continues to keep spending money, then Sony and Microsoft will keep selling consoles.

Again, Sony is just better at selling consoles than Microsoft is. That’s fact.

No one ever said that.

You buy a box now and boot it up to run PS5 OS.

Say you go buy a PS6 and inside that box is a PC with a dedicated GPU that boots up PS6 OS but also gives you the option to boot to Windows. Win win. This is why I gave the Zotac example of how the PS5 box is already the exact same as a mini-ITX PC box.

You're just getting the option to run it as a console or can also be used as a PC. And you get the option to upgrade internals if you want.

You literally said that lol. I’m done arguing with you. You keep going in circles while I keep providing facts that consoles aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Consoles and PCs made to look like consoles aren’t the same thing.

Correct, because technically they would be PC's as I said. You'd just have dual use.

As I suspected, you never really understood what I was saying.

Please stop.

I understood just fine. Your whole argument is just disingenuous, and you’ve never acknowledged what I’m saying, which is that half a market still plays on consoles and that’s not changing anytime soon.

Lol what? Go tear one apart and I bet it has PC parts.

You clearly have no idea about PC's in any way.

Yes internally they are similar, everyone knows that. But the functions are completely different. One you can write an essay on, and program on and 1000 plus other things.

Console users just want to play video games. That’s the crux of the argument.

Right, hence run the gaming OS and Windows all in one box.

I can assure you this is not true. Even for the kids, they'd love to have a PC capable of doing more. A lot of parents won't let their kids have a PC so you'll always have kids with only consoles as they have no choice. They typically also don't have money and rely on their parents buying it for them for a gift.

If this were true you wouldn't have Playstation TV, Xbox's built in antenna, and a buttload of apps to do anything but play games. Consoles today are FAR from just a video game machine. Netflix, YouTube, Hulu apps, live tv apps.

Two separate OSs will never happen.

I love how you say PC gaming is taking over while also stating that consoles are still in the majority of households.

Playstation TV

I actually loved PlayStation TV, I was sad when Sony discontinued it. I’m aware of consoles being more than just a gaming device. I honestly only use my PS5 for just gaming though. All my other streaming services are on my Roku. Unfortunately my PS5 doesn’t support all of them yet.

When I need to work, I open my MacBook.

Why not? Xbox wouldn't really need to with how integrated it is already now into Windows, they've essentially already done this.

But dual OS's are very common regardless.

Of course, just like PC's are still in the majority of households. That is typically what half and half means.

But that is also why I posted the trend. Those numbers 10 years ago had PC in the upper 30's, now it's damn near split. This is why I said companies have to be looking forward and following the trends, and thus Sony has ramped up their PC division something seriously over the last year and is at the forefront for them right now. Half of 3 billion players is a LOT of lost money.

Unlucky, when I need to work I stay at my PC and usually use my 2nd monitor for content.

Right... Sony, who quit the PC business is going to do that

Didn’t the OG PS3 allow Windows to be installed and that opened the door for ganes to be pirated? Sony even sued the developer of that “hack”.
