I have an acoustic-electric and wonder how much fun the game will be with this. I bought it years ago and it is collecting dust. I am a complete novice, can only play a few chords.

What do you think? It seems to made for an electric guitar. Also, how long does it take to build up callouses on your fingers......it fricking kills me to play.

well, i read somewhere when i was checking reviews that someone was using an electric acoustic. my fingers hurt the first 2 days but it didn't really keep me from playing. i have been told though, away from the game that you should learn guitar on a full electric guitar cause the strings are closer to the neck of the guitar as compared to an acoustic. not sure how true that is though. but the game should read an electric acoustic if that's all you have. like i said earlier. this game makes it fun. an hour will pass before you know it. you'll be done with 4 songs with in that hour. keep in mind that you won't play all the chords/notes. once you rank up in the game, more notes are thrown at you with each song.

Honestly learning on an acoustic was easier for me. The higher action on an acoustic means you can fly with little effort when swapping to electric. One trick I used to do when I played around on acoustic was to just string it with electric strings. The only thing it really effects is volume but if you are playing around in your bedroom its not a big deal. The electric strings are generally lighter than acoustic wound ones so they are not so tight or hard to hold

it doesn't matter. the game has different amps and pedals which give you the distorted sound needed for each song.

best thing is you can use all those amps and pedals in a free mode and jam with your acoustic also.

Still going strong? Keep telling myself I am going to pick it up one night. Probably will next week when I start Christmas vacation.
