Question regarding pre ordered game on PlayStation website

I preordered college football for my boys a couple months ago. I have a copy of the purchase and see it in the transaction history. My question is, when do they email an update regarding shipping? There’s no way to contact PlayStation from what I’ve seen, so I’m coming here to see if anyone has experience with this.

Can you order a hard copy on the PlayStation website?
I preordered the digital version.
The digital download will be available this weekend to load on the system and then Monday it will unlock for play around 4 or 5 pm.

I've never bought a pre-order physical copy from PSN before but in the past when I've pre-ordered something they ship it the day it released and sent an email it was shipped.

To my knowledge, I thought it was the hard copy. I’ll have to check and see if it was the digital copy. I don’t even know if our PS5 is capable of the digital copy

If I'm being honest, it will probably be better if it ends up being digital. You kids will be able to play it sooner. They can pre download and play on the day it releases rather than waiting for it in the mail.

It actually doesn’t specify on my receipt. Is there a contact to PlayStation you know of? I googled but the 800 number doesn’t work, and honestly I wondered if it was spam. I can’t even find a link to email anyone

It it doesn't say it's probably digital. Most games sales are digital these days.
Did you buy it from the Sony website or Playstation network?

I bought it through PlayStation network online. Are all PS5’s capable of digital downloads? I’m pretty sure the one we bought is only disks

I wish it did, but it only links me to the customer support on their website, but that only shows links to questions. No contact options at all

Nah they all do digital. The one without a disc just only does digital. You will have access to download on whatever PSN account you bought the game.

Try logging into the PSN shop on the PS5 using the account you bought the game with. Then search for the game and it should say it's purchased.

I see it now in the store. Says “expected auto download date 7/16/2024”

There should be a clock counting down instead of the "purchase" button with the price on it.

When you load a disc it still downloads to the hard drive.
Alright you got it. But in the future, when purchasing off the psn store it will always be a digital copy. If it’s a preorder it will have a countdown til you can download it.

It'll preload the game for full download before the day it's officially "released" you just need to have internet and power running to the PS5 for the days leading up.
You'll have the full game downloaded ready to go before the day it's released but can't play until server clocks hit the designated time (I'm assuming midnight pacific Friday of release).
