PS5 storage expansion

I know the ps5 will be opening up the m.2 expansion slot to add internal storage capacity but in the meantime I’d like to get an external drive.
What’s a good fast external drive I can use that won’t give me slow load times but also won’t cost an arm and a leg?

if you go to walmart, there should be some hard drive specific to the PS4/PS5 with the controllers, headsets, etc. section of the electronics department, but any external HDD/SDD will work via USB.

I know most will work but I would like one that doesn’t cause my ps4 games to load slower than my ps4 did.

that's your only option until they release an update that supports that m.2 slot.

I have this one for my PS4 games. Plugged into the USB C on the front of the PS5, it loaded the PS4 games almost as fast as if they were installed on the PS5’s internal. If I had four hands, I’d give it four thumbs up.

I bought this 4TB WD HDD from Amazon.. It loads PS4 games every bit as fast as the PS4 itself.
I'm hoping when Sony does the software update this Summer, they allow a good size internal SSD to be installed. I'm also hoping the prices on SSD drives come down. Those SOB's are expensive.
