this is a stupid suggestion because you've probably already done it - but change the input to hdmi 1 or hdmi 2 or whatever slot it's in.

if u can hear it but not see your TVs HDMI port may be fricked up. or the cable

try hookin up just the hdmi and then turning the ps3 off on the back and restarting it, it should search for connections that way
if not, google

I thought this Jeff, but 3 week old tv, and bought cable ten minutes ago. When I have component in it displays

Are you on the right setting for your TV? My tv has 4 hdmi ports but I run mine through the receiver so I dont need to switch modes

while components are hooked up so you can see what you are doing, go to display settings and change video and audio outputs to HDMI

Got it hooked HD port 1. And that's what tv is set to. Croacka I tried that and it said if it went blank it would go back to original, bout to try again

well once it switches to hdmi, you need to hurry and switch your tv to hdmi so you can see what it says and select keep settings or whatever

here is a fix that has seemingly worked for other people in your situation:
quote:
turn off your PS3 and then turn it back on by HOLDING your finger on the on/off sensor ON THE CONSOLE and wait until it beeps 3 times, it should then auto detect
if not then connect the regular cables to the PS3 and the tv and connect the HDMI to the tv but not the PS3 yet
then change the display option on the PS3 to HDMI, as soon as you do that disconnect the reg cables from PS3 and plug HDMI into the PS3 then change input on tv to HDMI and it should show up
first of the 2 options should work though and its easier

This was it. I figured it out right before u posted. Swear.
tv started on video1 hd was plugged in hdmi 1, so when I switched on ps3 I had switch to hdmi 1 on tv.
