PS3 Blu-ray Player

Ok gamers. for the PS3 players out there how is the quality of the blu-ray player for movies? Comprabale to a stand alone blu-ray?
I have a fricking old Blu-Ray player but it can't download patches and what not, so all the new Blu-rays doesn't work on it(Hurt Locker never loaded and many blu-ray Pop-up menu's raise on screen sputtering, slow and stuttering.)
i'm thinking of getting a PS3 to replace my XBOX that died a year ago and also to get a new blu-ray in the same go.
2 birds with one stone.
So how does it look?

ps3 blu ray was 2nd highest blu-ray player rated by cjnet out of 10 dedicated players. recv'd an A-.only one rated higher cost $1200...........so its good

I just watched a BlueRay yesterday for the first time on my PS3. It's amazing having sex with awesome covered in fantastic.

i thought i heard somewhere that the ps3 bluray was one of the very few, if not the only bluray, ready for 3D movies?

I think the update from last week was to prep it for 3d. But its not ready for it yet, but should be in the future

Well, frick. Now all I need to do is find a way to buy it and get it in the house without Mrs ChiTig getting pissed that I bought it! I know all about the MW2 thanks to the few threads, but what other games would the gamers rec? I'm looking at Uncharted2

yeah thats right... it shouldnt be too long b/c they have the Batman game of the year 3d version coming out in the next couple weeks

If you like baseball (and it appears you're in Chicago, so chances are good that you do), get The Show 10. Uncharted 2 is supposed to be a really good exclusive and so is Heavy Rain. What kind of games are you into?

Funny, having lived in La until I moved up here I never was into Baseball. I had to learn it when I got up here, but I now love it. I was thinking of The Show...i had one for the xbox way back when by 2k.
I'm more of an action adventure, RPG dude. I dig shooters like rainbow 6 and what not, so I would like MW2, probably, but with games going for upwards of $70 i'd rather look at things i would play all the time rather than a casual, "Let me frick around on MW2 for a bit to pass the time."
i think "Red Dead Redemption" might get my interest. I fricking LOVED "GUN" even with all its short comings

As others have stated the PS3 is an excellent Blu Ray player. Reference level. You will only be limited by the shortcomings of your display, not the player.

Gorgeous - watched Avatar Bluray on my 52" Samsung LCD, was jaw dropping.
