Original Xbox CD Question

I have an original xbox that I am trying to rip some music to from my computer. I have a thompson dvd drive on my xbox. I have tried using memorex cd-r and memorex cd-rw's and neither of them seem to be recognized by the xbox. I have tried burning them in Itunes and WMP at slow burn speeds.
Has anyone had success with this or am I just up the creek?

... Not to be a dick but why do you have an original X-box and not a 360? I don't think burned cd's will work in the original but I never swapped the drive either.

I have a 360 with the ring of death. I have the kit coming in to fix it. I still like playing some old games on the original xbox that don't work on 360. Mainly NFL 2k5. I don't know why but I'm addicted to that game on the original xbox.

My only complaint with the 360. RROD can be fixed placing 8 pennies in strategic locations for future reference. If the kit doesn't work google it.

Thomson Drive:
Will not read CD-R
Will only read SOME (generally expensive media) CD-RW
Reads all DVD-R/RW
Reads all DVD+R/RW
