Ordered my son a Steam Deck

it should come in this week. It's going to be his birthday present.
I also have a hard case/skin on the way, the soft silicone ones got bad reviews; too loose and stretchy. And a pack of glass screen protectors. And a PNY 512gb XLR8 A2 sd card.
Got the base 64gb model, after looking into reviews; upgrading the SSD ourselves shouldn't be any harder than some of the laptop stuff we've done. And a few comments online remark that with a good SD card (like the one I picked up), things work just fine.
Anyone have one, have some tips?
I've done some checking online, it's neat to see that the latest reviews are saying Deadspace remastered is now able to run ok (as of Monday morning), with the latest updates and patches. When I ordered the Deck Friday, this wasn't the case. It comes in Wednesday, I'm guessing that will be the first game he loads up, that or Elden Ring.

I have one and love it. He may run into a glitch which prevents him from using WiFi if you’re on 5 gHz. If you have dual band go with 2.4 when using Steam Deck. Also, for games that aren’t compatible, you can download Proton GE experimental and it will help with running games. You can eventually get a dock for the Steam deck similar to the switch dock if he ever wants to play on big screen.

So, how are the other non-Steam, windows-based game services? We've used Slickdeals to find some good prices on things over the years, on Origin, Epic and some others. Looks like there's a way to use them too. I saw a video where some dude lays it out step-by-step, having to go through the shared file system etc. Looks doable, but also like that will take awhile to initially set it up.
wow, shipping is fast. I ordered it on the 27th, got the notification sunday that it had a label. I see Fedex has it out for delivery today

You mean as far as setting them up on the Steam Deck? I haven’t really messed with that, although I’ve seen people on YouTube install Windows OS onto the Deck - Steam deck runs Linux but I don’t know too many people that prefer to use that over Windows. You could probably set up Epic games or other stores after that, but obviously that would require a Windows key to get the OS (unless you want to sail the seven seas).
