OOTP - baseball game

Does anybody play this game? Didn’t see any posts surprisingly.

If so, please use this thread to tell me your best OOTP stories. I’ll go first.

I started with the 76 braves. I had a mission to get Murphy and Horner rings. Murphy was in the minors and Horner in college. I have it set up so I get all of the braves prospects.


First few years were rough. By 78 we had Horner and by 79 we were solid but the reds were winning the division and won back to back WS 79-80. I was pissed. Free agency comes and Ken Griffey is there. I steal him from the reds and he is just the spark I needed. My new LF, on base lefty, he does well and we beat the royals in 6 for the first WS.

Along with getting a failing Nolan Ryan at the deadline (he was already falling off hard and yanks were desperate to move him)
Nolan does well behind my elite infield though and bounces back a little. He still never becomes the elite Nolan and prob retired around 84 or so.

Along with Niekro, and Tommy John, I have a legion of doom, but also old, failing arms.
Griffey falls off in 82 but we go back to back and we sweep the royals this time. We swept the NLCS Phillies too.
We won’t make it back til 85 but we beat the royals again and then 88, royals for the 4th time.

Joe niekro is a braves legend. Candy man helped us get the 85 and 88 rings, my legendary ace. Mike Scott joins around 86 for the 2nd one.

So my dynasty amasses from 81-88. Still got candy man and Mike Scott. Smoltz outperformed them last year, but all 3 are still elite. Where’s glavine? He might never be more than a crappy BP arm sadly.

We barely missed playoffs most of the years we didn’t win the WS. I shouldn’t have trusted my AI manager to run those seasons. But still a legendary dynasty. Davey Johnson got 2 rings for the braves, Darrell Evans got 1, Horner and murph all 4, along with Barry Bonnell and Albert hall (both were NLCS MVPs and Bonnell was also WS MVP), royster got the first 2 (maybe 3).

Murph fell off around 87 and Horner re signed elsewhere in 90. Now it’s 91 and my AI manager dicked me again last years. But Gant is now the MVP over Bonds. Very interesting timeline. I also have the great Ohio state coach urban Meyer as my 3B, he took Glenn hubbards spot as 2B last year. He can play any infield position. He never stopped developing for us although IRL he didn’t even make single A.
