game informer (They'll be running coverage all month)

Summary:

- Fast travel from the very beginning of the game confirmed
- Respecialization confirmed (Miyazaki is not sure if it's going to be in the form of Soul Vessels)
- New Game+ will look more like Dark Souls 2, with new weapons, items, and reconfigured enemy locations and placements
- Bonfire ascetics will not be returning
- Durability will be a mix between the two extremes of Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2
- Summoning system will be similar to Dark Souls 1 and Dark Souls 2, and will use soul level for matching, not soul memory
- Players won't be locked behind consumable items for invasion
- Hidden walls confirmed - they'll be tied to attacking them, like Dark Souls 1
- Spells will have something similar to Battle Arts
- Mana bar for spells will return
-Tutorial won't be fight the impossible monster and die this time
-No part cutting to get equipment (Dragon tails)
-Item trading with certain NPCs is back
-Moonlight Greatsword is back
-Aiming for six player multiplayer
-Easier to summon helper NPCs
-Covenants are back and easier to understand
-New ailment, frostbite, drains stamina and hinders recovery when cold
-Bosses can "heat-up" and get new moves during battle.

I'm happy about fast travel and still being able to respec.

No farming? There will be so much butthurt. I wonder if you can still exhaust a level's enemies?

No, it's why they're doing away with ascetics. I've never cared for enemies despawning, but I liked the ability to ascetic a boss to get weapons and spells without having to start a new playthrough.

Having only played 2, which extreme was that on?

Dark Souls 2 at 60fps, it's hardly an issue in 1.

They fixed that with a patch though didn't they?

They did and it's not a deal like it was before the patch, but weapons degrade so slowly in ds1 that it might as well not be there.

I am too. All of the games do some things better and some things worse than the rest -- this sounds like an amalgamation of the finer parts -- including those in Demon's Souls.

Hearing that and seeing the end credits for the first time was a great moment for me because I thought I'd never be able to beat it.
