MLB2K11, How do you play on an Online Game ? XBOX

I just got the game and I can't seem to figure out how to get an online game going. I go to play ball and ranked game, but no game ever gets connected. I press X and go to the lobby and no one is ever in a lobby.
When I bought the game, I was looking for the online code thats usually on the manual guide, but there was none.
Any help guys ?

What I think is happening is you are hitting the X button and transferring yourself to the lobby where you invite friends to play with you. For competitive multiplayer you have to access that through the main-menu.
I seem to remember this always happening to me in 2k10, I'd be in the myplayer main menu and accidentally hit X and be put into this empty lobby
