MLB The Show 21?

I am interested in purchasing the PS4 version, but I am really only interested in completing the card collections.
I know most likely I will not complete a set of cards by the time MLB the Show '22 comes out - will I still be able to collect '21 cards when the new version is released? Also would I be able to view card collections for years to come from the '21 version of the game? Is there a way to save your collection?
